Goa Nightclub Fire: Luthra Brothers Abscond; New FIR Reveals Massive Safety Violations

Four days after the horrific fire at Goa’s Romeo Lane nightclub that killed 25 people, the prime accused—club owners Gaurav and Saurav Luthra—remain out of police reach. According to sources, both brothers fled India soon after the incident and are currently believed to be hiding in Thailand. In Delhi, their associate Ajay Gupta, who had also been missing since the fire, has now been arrested. With this, the number of arrests in the case has risen to six. Major revelations have surfaced through the FIR, indicating that the tragedy was entirely preventable. Investigators found that the nightclub violated nearly every fire-safety norm. There were no fire extinguishers, no fire alarms, no fire exit, and shockingly, a live fire show was being performed inside the club without any safety equipment. Records also show that no fire audit was conducted for years, pointing to blatant corruption and negligence by the owners and management. The Goa administration has demolished one of the Luthra brothers’ properties, and two other clubs linked to them have been sealed. Meanwhile, to avoid arrest, the absconding brothers have approached Delhi’s Rohini Court seeking anticipatory bail, even though the incident occurred in Goa. The court is expected to hear their plea today.
