Breaking News: Strait of Hormuz Becomes Flashpoint in Iran War as Trump Warns of Major Military Action

The Strait of Hormuz has emerged as the most critical flashpoint in the ongoing conflict involving Iran, United States, and Israel. This vital maritime route connects the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and carries nearly one-fifth of the world’s oil supply—about 20 million barrels daily. Following recent US and Israeli strikes on Iran, Tehran reportedly moved to block the strait, raising fears of a global energy crisis. The disruption has already shaken markets, with crude oil prices surging to around $120 per barrel for the first time in nearly four years. Donald Trump warned that if Iran continues to threaten the global oil supply, Washington could launch its largest military response yet. Meanwhile, Amin Nasser of Saudi Aramco said prolonged disruption in the strait could severely impact global energy markets. The US military has intensified strikes on Iranian naval positions near Bandar Abbas. Reports suggest the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln could be involved in operations near the strait, possibly alongside France’s Charles de Gaulle carrier. Analysts are also discussing the strategic importance of Kharg Island, through which nearly 90% of Iran’s oil exports pass.
