    Putin Assures 'Uninterrupted Shipment' Of Fuel, Announces Building India's Largest Nuclear Plant

    Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday assured "uninterrupted shipment" of fuel to India amid pressure by the US, adding Russia will supply everything required for the development of India's energy sector. 

    Jointly addressing the media after a closed-door meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Delhi's Hyderabad House, Putin said, "Russia is a reliable supplier of oil, gas, coal, and everything that is required for the development of India's energy."

    "We are ready to continue uninterrupted shipments of fuel for the fast-growing Indian economy," he added. 

    Putin thanked President Droupadi Murmu, PM Modi, calling him a "my dear friend", and the people of India "for the warm and hospitable welcome to the Russian delegation." 

    My talks with PM Modi over dinner were very helpful for our Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership. PM Modi and I have established a close working dialogue. We met during the SCO Summit, and we are personally overseeing the Russia–India dialogue," Putin said at the joint press meet.

    The Russian premier further said that the two sides resolved to prioritise cooperation in areas of security, economy, trade and culture, adding that both countries aim to increase the annual bilateral trade volume to USD 100 billion. Moscow is also looking to expand cooperation in the energy sector with New Delhi. 

    Putin announced conducting a flagship project to build the largest Indian nuclear power plant in Koodankulam. "Two out of six reactor units have already been connected to the energy network, and four are still under construction...," he said. 

    Modi Speaks On Ukraine War, Terrorism 

    During the joint press meeting, PM Modi talked about the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war and reiterated  his stand on advocating peace between the two. "We welcome all efforts being made for a peaceful and lasting resolution of this matter. India has always been ready to contribute its part and will remain so in the future," he said.

    On terrorism, Modi said the two countries have long been standing shoulder-to-shoulder in the fight against the menace. "Whether it is the terrorist attack in Pahalgam or the cowardly assault on the Crocus City Hall -” the root of all these incidents is the same," he said. "India's unwavering belief is that terrorism is a direct assault on the values of humanity and that global unity against it is our greatest strength," he added.

    Modi also announced free electronic visas for Russian tourists and groups visiting the country.
