Weather Alert: Severe Cold Wave Grips North India; Delhi-NCR Faces Air Pollution Crisis

A severe cold wave continues to sweep across North India, affecting states like Uttar Pradesh and Delhi, causing temperatures to plummet and adding to public discomfort. In Delhi, the situation is compounded by rising air pollution levels, with the Air Quality Index remaining in the hazardous zone. Residents are facing difficulties even while breathing, as toxic smog lingers over the city. Thick fog has further reduced visibility, slowing down traffic and disrupting daily life in both Delhi and parts of Uttar Pradesh. The cold winds have led to a sharp drop in temperatures, and the harsh winter chill shows no signs of easing soon. Many districts in Uttar Pradesh are experiencing dense fog early in the morning, adding to travel hazards. Authorities have issued warnings for residents to take precautions against extreme cold and avoid prolonged outdoor exposure. Health experts have also advised people, especially the elderly and children, to limit exposure to polluted air and cold conditions. The cold wave is expected to persist in the coming days, affecting the entire northern region.
