Weather Alert: Dense Fog and Severe Air Pollution Grip Delhi-NCR, Visibility Drops Sharply

Delhi-NCR continues to face a double challenge of dense fog and worsening air pollution, significantly affecting daily life across the region. Thick layers of fog and haze have reduced visibility to critically low levels, particularly in areas such as Akshardham and Chanakyapuri, where movement has been severely impacted. Due to poor visibility, vehicle speeds on major roads have slowed considerably, increasing the risk of traffic disruptions and accidents. Alongside foggy conditions, air quality in the national capital remains a major concern. Several parts of Delhi are consistently recording an Air Quality Index (AQI) above 400, placing them in the severe to hazardous category. Prolonged exposure to such conditions poses serious health risks, especially for children, the elderly, and those with respiratory ailments. The India Meteorological Department has issued continuous advisories, warning that dense fog is likely to persist and visibility may remain poor during morning hours. Meanwhile, dropping temperatures have further intensified winter-related hardships for residents. Authorities have urged citizens to limit outdoor activities, drive cautiously, and follow health advisories. As winter deepens, the combined impact of cold weather, fog, and air pollution continues to make conditions increasingly difficult for people living in Delhi-NCR.
