    National Pension System (NPS) के subscribers के लिए एक बड़ी और काम की पहल सामने आई है। PFRDA ने NPS Health Pension Scheme नाम से एक नई योजना शुरू की है, जिसका उद्देश्य pension savings के जरिए healthcare expenses को कवर करना है। इस scheme में जमा रकम doctor की fees, medicines और hospitalisation जैसे खर्चों के लिए इस्तेमाल की जा सकेगी। यानी NPS का पैसा अब सिर्फ retirement के बाद ही नहीं, बल्कि बीमारी के समय भी मदद करेगा। यह योजना पूरी तरह voluntary है और फिलहाल pilot project के तौर पर sandbox system में test की जा रही है। Normal medical जरूरतों के लिए 25% तक और serious illness के मामलों में 100% तक withdrawal की सुविधा दी गई है। बढ़ती medical inflation के दौर में यह scheme health और financial security दोनों को मजबूत करने की दिशा में अहम कदम मानी जा रही है।
