Jaipur News: Crackdown Intensifies in Jaipur as Police Selectively Detain Stone-Pelters After Mosque Violence

Police action has intensified in Rajasthan’s capital Jaipur following violence that erupted outside a mosque in the rural Chomu area. Law enforcement agencies have launched a targeted crackdown and are selectively detaining those allegedly involved in stone pelting during the early morning unrest on Friday, December 26. The incident reportedly began around 4:00 am over a dispute related to the removal of stones near the mosque premises. According to police officials, when authorities attempted to defuse the situation and restrict the gathering, a section of people allegedly resorted to stone pelting. The attack left nearly half a dozen police personnel injured, prompting the police to take firm action to restore order. To control the escalating situation, police were forced to conduct a lathi charge and fire tear gas shells to disperse the crowd. Additional forces were deployed in the area to prevent further violence and ensure law and order. Senior officials confirmed that multiple teams are reviewing CCTV footage and local inputs to identify and apprehend those responsible. As a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of rumours and misinformation, mobile internet services in the area were suspended for 24 hours. Authorities have stated that the situation is currently under control and strict legal action will be taken against all those found guilty.
