    India–US interim trade deal पर नई बहस शुरू हो गई है। Deal के कुछ दिन बाद White House ने 9 February को एक fact sheet जारी की, जिसमें पहली बार “certain pulses” का ज़िक्र किया गया। 6 February के joint statement में pulses शामिल नहीं थीं, जिससे यह update अहम बन गया। Experts मानते हैं कि यह India के agriculture market को limited और controlled तरीके से खोलने का संकेत है। Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan ने साफ किया है कि सभी pulses और कई farm items import नहीं होंगे, ताकि farmers सुरक्षित रहें। दूसरी तरफ, US ने Indian exports पर duty cuts का वादा किया है। Deal का मकसद trade balance और farmer protection दोनों है।
