Android 17 May Redesign Notifications and Quick Settings With Split Layout

Android 17 could bring a major redesign to notifications and Quick Settings, based on recent leaks. Google is reportedly testing a split layout that opens notifications and system controls separately using different swipe gestures. The change aims to reduce clutter and improve usability, especially on larger screens. Tablets and foldables may use the split layout by default, while regular phones could retain a choice. The update may also restore separate Wi-Fi and mobile data toggles, reversing a long-criticised Android 12 change.
